In Genesis 2:7 in the KJV it said "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." And the NKJV says "...living being." Isn't the soul more then a being?

The NKJV has the word "soul" used 341 times where the Authorized KJV uses it 498 times. The Hebrew word is "nephesh" and its occurrences in the OT is 754 times and is translated: a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. The question I have is: Is the heart of man and the soul of man almost the same thing?

Even though W.W. Fereday has gone to be with the Lord many years ago I though I would post his thought on the Soul of man. This is from "Questions of the hour."

Genesis 2:7, says, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." In this verse it seem that Man's body is formed, it is a soul without life and then God adds the breath of life and it now become a living soul.
